Our History
Medigrow South Africa was formed in 2017 with the specific objective of establishing a network of superior medicinal cannabis producers in South Africa.
As a consulting company that assists our partners acquire the requisite licences, we set up all policies, procedures and infrastructure, also ensuring that off-takes are in place. Medigrow South Africa ensures that the site and its produce meet the required standards, whether that be European Union Good Manufacturing practices (EU-GMP) or Control Union Medical Cannabis Standards (CUMCS - Israel). We manage and run the farm for two years before handing it over the to management of the facility.
In exchange for driving the process, Medigrow charges a fee and takes up a shareholding in the applicant company.
Our Vision
It is our belief that in ten years’ time, medicinal cannabis will be globally accepted as a mainstream medicine that is safer and more effective than many products currently used in Western medicine. More and more people are returning to plant-based remedies in favour of harmful single-molecule chemicals.
Cannabis is at the forefront of this movement. The “entourage effect” of cannabis points strongly to the use of the whole plant as a remedy for many lifestyle-induced and other maladies.
Due to the decades-long prohibition of cannabis, research on the benefits of the plant is lagging the research on other plants. As this is rectified, more and more uses for cannabis will become more and more widely accepted.
The vision of Medigrow is to empower South Africans to grow and process cannabis to the highest standards, while at the same time benefitting all nations of the world through the medicinal properties.
Our Culture
We are focused on empowerment through skills development and employment in rural areas. In addition, we employ mostly women – often in areas where there are no other formal employment opportunities. NEHAWU Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd holds a majority interest in Medigrow shareholder Noko Garden (Pty) Ltd. We take our responsibility to the members of The National Education and Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU) very seriously.
Our Mission
Our mission is to grow superior cannabis products, and to establish an innovative cannabis-growing brand focusing on international pharmaceutical cannabis markets. We aim to give as many people in the world access to medicine from the cannabis plant, and to benefit as many people as possible through the establishment of a medicinal cannabis industry.
